Oct 17, 2026 SB and TC breaking ground

Thanks to everyone that contributed to a very successful School Construction Project Groundbreaking Ceremony on Saturday (10/17/26). We had a large turnout and the speeches and CEMS band performances were exceptional (thank you to our wonderful directors Missy Shabo & Caitlin Ramsey).

Superintendent Record opened the ceremony with welcoming remarks, lauding the positives of the project, and thanking the community for supporting our schools.

A real highlight were the speeches by 3rd (Lorenzo Todaro), 4th (Pearl Rockers), and 6th (Ellie Lewis) grade students, and a 1970 graduate (Carol Anne Jordan).

CEMS Principal Sarah Rubin and 5th grade teacher Dan Eberle also shared heartfelt and inspiring remarks. As did our School Board Chair (Cindy Voltz), Town Council Chair (Elizabeth Scifres), and local legislative reps (Senator Anne Carney & Representative Michelle Boyer).

It was cold and blustery and everyone just worked so hard to get it done and it looked amazing. A huge thank you to our custodial and maintenance team, Mr. Brown, and members of the district leadership team.

It was a celebration long in the making and we could not be more proud and excited for what this project means for Pond Cove, CEMS, and even CEHS, as we will now have more yearly budget funds to make improvements there.
