For Immediate Release
It is with the greatest pleasure and excitement that the Cape Elizabeth School Board announces Dr. Christopher Record as the new Superintendent of Cape Elizabeth Schools, beginning July 1, 2021. Dr. Record is in his fifth year as Assistant Superintendent in Gorham, and was named Maine’s Assistant Superintendent of the year in 2019. Chris started his educational career in alternative and special education in North Carolina and Massachusetts, before moving to Maine where he taught Social Studies at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. After making the shift into administration as Assistant Principal at Oxford Hills, Chris then had a distinguished term as Principal of Gorham High School for eight years. Dr. Record holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Public Policy and Educational Leadership.
This hire is the culmination of a national search that began back in early February. The interview committee, consisting of parents, teachers, administrators, and Board members, was unanimous in its enthusiastic recommendation of Dr. Record. The Board is confident that Dr. Record will ensure Cape Elizabeth Schools continue in the tradition of high-performing excellence while expanding educational experiences for all students.
