NASA Engineer Pranay Mishra visits Cape

On Wednesday April 14th, Mr. Anesko's AP Computer Science class welcomed NASA/JPL Systems Engineer Pranay Mishra via Zoom.  Mr. Mishra works directly on the Mars Perseverance program including  Ingenuity Mars Helicopter which became the first aircraft in history to make a powered, controlled flight on another planet.   Mr. Mishra worked previously on the Mars InSight lander and on mission planning for Mars Sample Return.

Mr. Mishra described in an engaging slideshow his journey from high school, through college and a post college degree as an aeronautical engineer, to his work at NASA/JPL. He described his typical workday (hint: there is no such thing!), working with robots, communicating with one tens of millions of miles away, building a Martian field in the lab, testing the Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and working with the best of the best at NASA. Mr. Mishra answered a wide range of thoughtful questions from students, and took questions live following his presentation.

We welcome you to watch a replay of Mr. Mishra's presentation here!  Also, be sure to check out his bio and the amazing Perseverance descent and touchdown video!
