Five Cape Elizabeth High School seniors have been designated as National Merit Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. The program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The commended students are Charlotte DeGeorge, Ainsley Fremont, Alexander Scanlon, Nina Stevens and Alexander Thayer.
The students were selected based on their 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) scores. More than one million juniors complete the PSAT/NMSQT each year and are automatically entered in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success.
